Mad props to my buddy Sean from the Seattle-based synth pop
project The Fascination Movement, who are about to release their
debut EP, 0.5. The EP is set for a December 1, 2008 release via Aube
Records and Clone Distribution. Super highly recommended.

Aube sez "If you secretly believe that all of the best dance music has
an undercurrent of melancholy then you are in for a treat."

I'm really excited about this release cuz it shows a wonderful
appreciation of italo, new wave, and synth pop of the late 70s and
mid 80s, but set in a modern aesthetic. While I appreciate the recent
movement of bands emulating the production of this era of italo and
electro (I am completely guilty of this, ha), I love it even more when
artists like the Fascination Movement take those sensibilities to a
new level. It's not about cool beats with cool samples. Tons of
attention to detail here; the melodies are super solid and work fluidly
with the rhythms. The production of the EP is super crisp and punchy,
with ultra warm synths that will melt even the strongest of metals
upon contact.

Sean is an amazing producer of sonic and visual treats, including a
recent brilliant remix of Starcluster's "Smoke and Mirrors" (featuring
Marc Almond from Soft Cell), which can be heard of the the FM myspace.
He also designed the FM EP cover above and runs the amazing
music blog The Red Room. He's obviously done his research, now
you do yourz.
